MA Development
At DBS, we believe banking is about people. Hence we don't just focus on financial investments, we also invest in our people. Attracting the sharpest minds is only half the story. The other half involves enabling our people to develop to their fullest potential.
How do we do that? By providing our MAs with challenging rotational stints, enriching interactions with Senior Management and networking opportunities with regional MA cohorts, set against the backdrop of a bank recognised the world over for its solid foundation in Asia.
This ensures that the sharpest minds join our MAP and emerge even sharper and stronger. Now think about what that can do for your career.
So if you seek a fulfilling experience and an accelerated career path, our MAP is the opening chapter in your success story as a leader making a difference in this dynamic region.
As a MA, you will receive comprehensive training and development covering three key areas: Experience, Education and Relationship.
Experience-based Development yinhangzhaopin.com
The best person to decide your career path is YOU. As a MA, you will be assigned a Programme Manager to work with you to design your Individual Development Plan based on your ambitions and our business priorities.
In other words, we're helping you to map out your route to success. All you have to do is take charge and own it.
Along this route, you will find on-the-job training that includes experiential learning across different types of roles. For more information on the potential roles that MAs could be exposed to, refer to the Career Portfolio section.
Education-based Development
To better equip you for your leadership role with us, your MAP journey will begin with a rigorous and structured training programme. The 11-week campus induction programme is the first step for all MAs, wherever they are located.
Held at DBS Headquarters in Singapore in July every year, the campus programme comprises a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip our MAs with the necessary financial and professional skills in the following key areas:
During this 11-week program, you will engage extensively with senior management and other line managers through the course curriculum, project presentations, and networking sessions.
Continuous Learning
Remember what we said about developing you to your fullest potential? Continuous learning through our Regional Learning and Development Team will ensure that you receive more than on-the-job training during the rest of your career with us.
Providing you with innovative learning solutions tailored to meet your specific career needs, there will be ample opportunities for you to further enhance your knowledge and skills.
You can also stay abreast of changes in the banking industry and improve your performance on the job by participating in the DBS Group Education Sponsorship Programme.
Relationship-based Development
It's not only what you know, but who you know. Also, it's not just what you say but how you say it. The sharpest minds need more than business insights. They need interpersonal and relationship skills.
That's why the MAP endeavours to sharpen your interpersonal and relationship skills to help you build a professional network of contacts through a range of programmes that includes:
Mentorship by Senior Management
Throughout the programme, you will be assigned a mentor from the senior management team. The mentor will provide broad guidance to help you achieve your career aspirations and to ensure ongoing professional and personal development.
Buddy Scheme
To help you to settle into the DBS family, you will also be assigned a buddy, who will share their previous experiences, connect you with others to build your professional network, as well as facilitate sharing of knowledge and experience within DBS.
MAP Management
You will have a Programme Manager to provide you with career guidance and support during the course of the programme. Working with colleagues in the Business HR teams of Group Human Resources, the Programme Manager will also track and coordinate with Business Units with regards to your performance and career aspirations.
Participation in the DBS Recreation Club
As an MA, you will automatically become a member of the DBS Rec Club Committee, which organises staff welfare and engagement activities. As a member of this committee, you will have the opportunity to take up leadership roles in various teams such as welfare, sports, publicity, etc. These experiences will further hone your interpersonal, leadership and negotiation skills and enable you to grow your professional networks in the bank.
MAP Network
As part of a MA Cohort, you will establish an MAP network not just locally, but also regionally with MAs from other countries. This support network will come in useful as you progress within the bank, as you will always have your peer group to bounce off ideas, source for useful information, share experiences, and most importantly, share lasting bonds of friendship.

The commencement date for MAP 2011 will be in July 2011. If you have what it takes to join us on the MAP journey, take charge and submit your application now. Application will open in September 2010 for the 2011 intake.
